Erobella's Sex Worker Wellbeing Survey - 2024
The Nordic model, also known as the "Swedish model," criminalises the purchase of sexual services. Here are some of the consequences of its implementation:
- ‼️ Isolation: Since clients fear arrest, transactions often occur in more isolated, less safe locations, increasing the risk of violence against sx workers.
- ‼️ Instability: The criminalization of clients can reduce the number of clients willing to engage, leading to reduced income for sx workers and increasing their economic vulnerability.
- ‼️ Dependence on Riskier Clients: With a smaller client pool, sex workers may be compelled to accept clients they would otherwise reject, including those who are more dangerous.
- ‼️ Persistent Stigma: The model perpetuates the stigma associated with sex work as society continues to view it through a lens of criminality and deviance.
Erobella’s goal for 2024 is to identify the areas where sex workers need support and (with their active involvement) develop programs aimed at destigmatizing their work.
Last year, we conducted a Sex Worker Wellbeing Survey, which you can review here.
This year, we are undertaking a larger-scale research process to understand the conditions of sex work across Europe.
If you are engaged in Sex work organization, union, or project, please help us spread the word and act against the Nordic model by filling out the survey for the upcoming Sx Workers Wellbeing Report 2024.
You can find the survey below, or alternatively click on the link here.
